4 ways to use your time, to give you the energy, to put in the effort

The 10th October is ‘World Mental Health Day’ and it is an opportunity to remind, review and reset  good mental health and wellbeing activities.  We have all endured a global pandemic that has simultaneously added to the stresses and strains of life; but the time at home forced us to reflect on how we want to conduct our business and life. So, in pursuit of our passion projects, side hustles and growing businesses what 4 ways can we utilise our time, mental health and wellbeing, to give us the energy, to put in the effort.

1.       Reframe Unhelpful Thoughts.  Starting and developing a business will throw up situations and challenges that you have not experienced before. Setbacks, miss steps and waiting for the next best move are all part of the journey. So develop your growth mindset, reframe the challenge and see it as an opportunity to learn.


2.       Be in the present.  When we have our eye on a goal, we are either living in the past or in the future. We may start to think about what has gone wrong or what could go wrong. However, it is important to enjoy the present moment and the time period that you are in. So, on your entrepreneurial journey, celebrate your wins and believe that you can problem solve your way out or around your challenges.


3.       Get good sleep. When working on a project and/or tight deadline, the first thing people forgo is sleep. However, it is counterintuitive. Getting enough sleep actually energises you and is good for your mental and physical wellbeing. So make the time for a good nights sleep if you are at a stage of your life where you can (mum’s of babies and toddlers noted. Your time will come!).


4.       Connect with others. Spending time with family, friends and forming your business tribe gives you a group of people to have fun with; and share your feelings, concerns, hopes and dreams. Connecting with others improves our mental health and wellbeing. So, don't forget to make time for the people you love and like.
