One day out of 365 days of the year we are actively encouraged to send tokens of love to our partners, family and friends. However, as busy working women juggling business, work and life couldn’t we use Valentine’s Day to kick start the year to do more of what we love. Lack of time and energy are the mostly commonly cited reasons as to why we don’t start, don’t fit in or don’t continue with our interests and passions. However, bite-sized activities maybe all the time we need during the day or working week.
They say, ‘all work and no play can make Jill a dull girl’. Doing more of what we love that is not necessarily related to business and/or work, can have a positive effect on yes you guessed it business and/or work. The halo effect of being engaged, happy, stimulated and enthusiastic can give us a renewed sense of energy, be good for our health and mental wellbeing and make us better parents and partners to be around.
Self-care and self-love are not selfish. They may not require inordinate amounts of time to integrate into your day and/or week. So, if your guilty pleasure is taking a bubble bath, reading a book, listening to podcasts, cooking, baking or dancing around the room, drop the guilt, go on and indulge yourself in a ‘power half an hour’ and to thy self be true.
